The Waikato River – Is it Being Under Utilised?

The mighty Waikato River is not only incredibly beautiful and the longest river in NZ, but perhaps the most under utilised, priceless, natural treasure in New Zealand….If you travel overseas, you’ll see that rivers are at the heart of their communities and everything is centered around them, creating an amazing vibrancy and atmosphere…What do you think?

Councillers with no vision for tourism in the Waikato region.

Hamilton maybe growing fast and maybe the gateway to other cool places, but REALLY, what exciting stuff is their to do?

Kiaora….Fortunately, I have to disagree with your comment on Hamilton. The city is in one of the fastest growing regions in New Zealand. Its also the gateway to an incredibly, diverse range of tourism attractions and destinations, including the Waitomo Caves and the magnificent harbours of Raglan, Aotea and Kawhia.

I enjoyed just seeing the natural trees growing along the river. Very rare these days. Keep it under utilised.

I think lucky it was under utilised. Its still looks wild and natural. Not like where I come from. Pollution everywhere

I agree. Its time people to appreciate this unpolished diamond before its too late.

What do you expect from stuffy city councillers with no vision, creativity or imagination. Their should be a petition to inform local voters to not vote onto the council anyone that does not have a positive plan for the river. After all it is the regions greatest asset, even though few realise it yet.
